Wow ! Grey sky …Of course ! I was born and grew up in the Flanders
area... But, this said, if you gaze at this grey colour, you will
perceive all sorts of colourful hues in it, and I, Chloé, understood this
phenomenon straight away...
I was born in 1983, a virgo rising “dream of glory”...
One generally speaks of an “uneventful” childhood...but, as far
as I am concerned, it was an “eventful” one, a childhood full of
stories... a Prince Charming or two, jealous girlfriends, rivers
of tears, shampoo stinging your eyes, trips to the zoo, board games galore,
and even complexes, deep complexes indeed !! Yikes !
Anyway ...
My first singing lessons with a teacher from the Lille Academy of Music in
1988... I discover something incredible !
A trip to Ireland later and I happen upon what will fill my
life hereafter. In a pub, I attend a typical folk country music
concert ...
And, bing! A revelation. I will be a singer, or at any rate,
become a musician. I will not be a ping-pong player, that's for sure !
A real epiphany ! I don’t know why this idea makes me so happy...but it does,
so why look any further?
Building a career in music inevitably means incremental progress, meeting people,
climbing up steps (in 2002, one of my songs is selected to appear in the RTL2
music programme)...with ups and downs, in short, not necessarily an easy job, but
a real passion which I soon share with my family, which led to the creation of a
fledgling production company : Cloé-Music.
In 2005 my first album comes out, my first songs , my first
appearances on stage, “La vie en Ose” together with my first joys, my first
sorrows...Eric Boerezand and Philippe Cattafesta are witness to it all...But
life is flying by... and I am growing up, evolving. I finish my degree in
Communication (Bac + 4),
I attend drama classes and appear often on stage, thus confirming my first
impressions : I simply love it !!
Meanwhile, I become a finalist in a stepping-stone competition for young musical
talents at the Paris Olympia. I then head out on a summer tour
for Radio “France-Bleue Nord”, where I meet just the right people at just the right
time – key people that have a real impact on my career. In the meantime, in 2006,
I participate in a France 3 TV programme “100% Music” (« Tout pour la musique »)
with the singer La Grande Sophie and “In Live With” on Europe 2 TV with singer
“Axelle Red.
At the end of 2006, the programme “Ptit coeur de Ninon” is going
to bring a total change in my life. I take part in a commemorative show honoring
Raoul de Godeswaersvelde with well-known rock groups from the northern France music scene,
such as “les blaireaux”, “les mauvaises langues”, Jeff Kino and a lot of others...
From this moment, I'm on fire: I refuse lukewarm, I want either boiling hot
or icy cold, I want to be thrilled, I want to be surprised...
I happen to meet songwriter Christian Vié and some composers...We set to work and write
together, with a show in mind, “Les petits miroirs”...
My budding label Chloé-Music is really starting to take form...
bookings, editions, production…
A number of people help me to carry on... Jef Kino, Thierry Geoffroy, BP Zoom, Les
Mauvaises Langues, Philkcat, Aldo Bouchy, Simon Bernard, Lolo, Christophe Balency,
Fred Momont, Fred Kandey, Pascal Arni, Patrice Desdoit, Guy et François
Marseguerra.
In 2007, it's one stage performance after another. I first start
with a “resident” contract for the Lille “Péniche du pianiste”, I thoroughly enjoy
singing “ L’oiseau blessé”, Cache-cache”, I am then booked for a
programme in “Le sentier des Halles” in Paris, and then back to Lille for a "Zenith” performance
organised by Radio France bleue.
My everyday life : still create a lot of songs with Christian Vié, plus
a pre-production project for my show together with the realisation of my home-made
CD cover, decorated « scrapbook » with my own little hands, and sold in concerts !
Follows a selection in the “Magic Discovery” programme for the Festival “Alors chante“
de Montauban in 2008. and my show « les petits miroirs » is off the ground...
With a special stage production label ( having thus broadcasting assistance),
this show is advertised all over France through my little structure. I even
have the privilege to sing for a Swiss public in Switzerland in March 2009.
In 2009 too, without leaving the city of Lille where I live, I take a small
apartment in the 9th district of Paris. I therefore come nearer to people like
David Berland, (Bertignac/de Palmas), Brice Davoli and Michel Boulanger
former manager of singer Dutronc)
I rush through the creation of new songs added to those on my “Petits miroirs”
production in view of my future album. After years of so much energy-demanding
stage production and creation, I now start on a deeper work... full of introspection,
nuances, and judicious choices….
In September 2009, I am selected to join the professional sessions of Astaffort with
Francis Cabrel, Emilie Loizeau and Maxime Leforestier.
I land in Agen on a Tuesday evening, not aware of the terrible shock I am going to
experience. For me, there is definitely a”before” and an “after” Astaffort...
I meet with original, interesting, artistic people. It's a unique, immensely formative
Iexperience. I have never felt so much joy creating and performing !
Back in the north, I write three more songs that I particularly have on my heart and
start to finalize my production with Fred Kandey in Lille Gimmick studio. I record
the key-board parts in Paris with Brice Davoli, basses and drums in Brussels in ICO
studio with Philippe Entresange, and among all this, more concerts including the
first part of singer Berry’s concert in the Colisée of Roubaix.
My next album will come out in 2010.
